Romanian friends unearthed two large treasures on the same day. One was from the late Middle Ages consisting of large talers and the second was Daco-celtic coins.
This was the first treasure they found, carefully dug after discovering it was a rather large horde of coins. They were only about 15 cm deep so absolutely any metal detector would have signaled these beauties.
The coins were in amazing condition.
The first treasure still resting in the ground here but not for long.
Nicely detailed coins from the middle ages.
The face of excitement 🙂
The second treasure was found two hours later this was a rather exciting find that rested in the ground for thousands of years. These coins are Daco-Celtic coins.
They were at 25cm depth waiting to be found!
Many well-preserved ones, some were still not that visible but probably just in as good condition just need some professional cleaning.
Work of art close up.
I guess the guys stopped detecting after finding the second treasure and just enjoyed the view before handing over the coins to the authorities.
In the next photo, we can see the coins as the authorities took them over.
In Romania, locals can get permits and detect freely by respecting properties and archeological sites (They can't detect near archeological sites).
The lucky finders can expect between 30%-40% of the value of their finds.
The faces of happiness, once in a lifetime day to remember. This is why this hobby is amazing. Images from Facebook.
